Flag Team Auxiliary Our Flag Team is a versatile group of performers. This unit trains for various marching and dance performances year round using a variety of instruments. It is more commonly known as Flag Team but these talented teens use so much more than that. Each year, the

different kids bring a different flavor to our distinguished team. Coached by Damian Contrearas, an Alameda native and son of Marnell Xavier of West Coast Dance Theatre, his knowledge of dance and music brings style, class, and a touch of sass to our Flag Team. Since assuming coaching responsibilities, the team has steadily improved. They are now bringing home awards from almost every competition. Thank you, Damian!

Colorguard is the marching routine portion of what this team does. They travel with us and perform a wide variety of marching routines with the band using flags, shields and sometimes more. They learn basic dance moves as well as marching skills in class.

 

Uniform Requirements: The guard students are issued a uniform. Ladies uniforms consist of a white top, dark skirt and white boots. They must bring and wear their own nylons. Hair is to be worn up in a ponytail. Cover all piercings and remove nail polish. Any applied make-up must be the same on each students for it to be considered part of the uniform.

 

Winterguard is the indoor dance and performance unit. We’ve created routines over the years using music by Madonna, Mickey Mouse, The Jackson 5 and more. This unit utilizes all manner of dance training provided in class with flags, pom-poms, rifles, swords and whatever else they need to bring their routine to life. Our Flag Team has been winning awards since 1990 and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
  

Uniforms Requirements: To be determined. The uniform depends on the routine and music selection. This performance does allow make-up and jewelry providing it is part of the uniform.
